The Museum’s Anniversary

01.07.2023.

Our Thanks!

In 1993, history professor Paulis Lazda of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (USA) decided to establish a museum in Riga, which would tell about the crimes committed by the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany against the state, land, and people of Latvia.

Today, thanks to this decision, we can look back on 30 years of operation of the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia. During this time, the Museum has received support from more than 8000 individual financial donors and 700 organizations, 3000 donors have provided historical artefacts for the Museum Collection. The Museum is grateful for the continuing trust of its supporters.

Today, on 1 July 2023, we celebrate the 30th anniversary of our Museum.
