The Museum of the Occupation of Latvia joins in the call to commemorate the Jews who were killed in the Holocaust

26.11.2018.

The organisers of Rumbula-77, Lolita Tomsone, Kaspars Zellis and Rita Ruduša, invite everyone to come and remember the Latvian Jews who were murdered in Rumbula Forest, at a commemorative event on 30 November from 18:00 to 23:00 at the Freedom Monument.

"These people were ours - our grandparents' neighbours, school and study friends, doctors, engineers, professors, and tailors. They belonged to Latvia, they lived and loved here, and played their part in founding this country a hundred years ago.  It is our responsibility not to forget about the largest murder of civilians in the history of our country – 25,000 had their lives violently taken. Let's commemorate those who died in Rumbula Forest 77 years ago and honour them with candles of remembrance in the very heart of Riga. Because we remember, and we hurt" - the organizers of the event.
