The Museum is participating in the memorial ride

In August 2026, the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia, together with the Sybir Memorial Museum (Muzeum Pamięci Sybiru) in Białystok (Poland), the Museum of Occupations and the Freedom Fights (Okupacijų ir laisvės kovų muziejus) in Lithuania, the Vabamu Museum of Occupations and Freedom (Okupatsioonide ja vabaduse muuseum Vabamu) in Estonia, and the National Museum of History (Muzeul Național de Istorie a Moldovei) in Chișinău (Moldova) organized a memorial bike ride in Białystok, Vilnius, Riga, Tallinn, and Chișinău, dedicated to the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact of August 23, 1939.

The idea for the ride originated at the Sybir Memorial Museum in Białystok, Poland, which has been organizing such a ride in Białystok for the tenth consecutive year. History enthusiasts who are knowledgeable about and understand the significance of historical events are warmly invited to participate.

On August 19, Pēteris Kalniņš, a historian at the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia, led a group of 30 history enthusiasts on a tour of historically significant sites in Old Riga. The following day, the tour took place in Tallinn. On August 21, LOM historians P. Kalniņš and E. Evarts participated in the ride in Vilnius, which had a similar number of participants. On August 23, the ride took place in Białystok, with E. Evarts participating. In Białystok, the number of participants was approximately 170, and a police escort was provided along the route. The event concluded at the museum, where candles were lit in memory of the victims of Soviet repressions who suffered and lost their lives. Finally, on August 30, the series of peloton events will conclude with an event in Chișinău, Moldova. A representative of LOM, historian G. Apals, will participate in the event.
