January 27 – International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holocaust and the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.
Approximately one million Jews and about 100,000 prisoners of other nationalities were killed in this camp between 1940 and 1945.
Also, during the years of occupation by Nazi Germany, more than 70,000 Latvian Jews and 25,000 Jews from other European countries were killed on the territory of Latvia.
Let us remember, commemorate and remind.
