Each donation helps to ensure the Museum's activities, allowing it to function and provide information for people from all over the world.
The Museum is grateful to each donor and invites everyone to contribute.
On Wednesday, 17 September, representatives from the Republic of Korea army visited our Museum and expressed a particular interest in our educational work. Guide Kārlis Krēķis led a tour of the exhibition, emphasising the objects and stories used in lessons for high school students. Inguna Role, Head of the Education Department, and Ilze Vaivode, our Museum pedagogue, explained how the Department organises its work, including student activities, methodology, programmes and teaching tools for teachers. The guests were particularly drawn to the story of Benita Plezere – both her drawings used for online classes and a sand cinema performance, Stories in the sand (Stāsti smiltīs (.!)) about deportations.
This meeting was a very valuable exchange of experience. Representatives of the Korean army emphasised the similarities in the history of our countries, particularly highlighting the fragmentation of a nation and life under the influence of superpowers. We concluded that, when working with young people, it is most important to explain history and the mistakes made in the past in order to prevent them from repeating those mistakes today.
We are grateful for your interest in our work and look forward to further cooperation.
