On 8 March 2024, the 2500th video testimony was recorded by the staff of the Audiovisual Archive of the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia!
105-year-old Antons Mortukāns became the recorder of the 2500th video. He was born in 1919 and lived through the development of the Latvian state and its history. Along with Latvia, he experienced not only the years of independence, but also survived the long years of occupation, and was also present at the restoration of Latvia's independence.
Since the autumn of 1996, the Museum's Audiovisual Archive records life stories of repressed persons and eyewitnesses of various significant historical events. During these 28 years, the total recorded duration of testimonies has reached 5000 hours.
Thank you – to all the video witnesses and our colleagues whose work over the years ensured that the video testimony collection not only expanded but was also promoted and widely used.
