25 000 people were murdered in Rumbula, on the outskirts of Riga, on 30 November and 8 December 1941. From 1941 till 1944 about 70 000 Jews from Latvia and 20 000 Jews deported from other countries of Europe were killed in Nazi-occupied Latvia. The exhibition is dedicated to their memory.

The exhibition “The Tragedy of Latvia. 1941” marked the 70th annual commemoration of two tragic events: mass deportations of Latvians in 14 June and the beginning of the Holocaust in Latvia. The exhibition emphasized the tragic impact of these events on all ethnic groups living in Latvia. The exhibition was prepared by the Occupation Museum in collaboration with the Museum "Jews in Latvia".
